Muscat: HE Eng Salim bin Nasser Al-Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals (MEM) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hydrom, recently signed two agreements awarding green hydrogen projects in Oman. The agreements were signed with the winning bidders of Round 1 of the Oman green hydrogen auction process during a special event organised at Crowne Plaza OCEC. The Round 2 public auction was also launched during the event, which will see new land blocks auctioned in the Dhofar region.
Muscat: As part of Oman's ongoing initiatives to foster the development of its hydrogen sector, Hydrogen Oman SPC (Hydrom) signed three agreements granting the first green hydrogen blocks in Oman where the first one was awarded through Phase A Round 1 public auction process, and the other two were awarded following the earlier signing of commercial term sheets on 14 March 2023.
Muscat: In a significant stride towards achieving sustainable energy goals, HE Eng Salim bin Nasser Al-Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals (MEM) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hydrom, has signed multiple term sheets with several Green Hydrogen Project developers. This milestone follows the preliminary agreements signed with these leading energy companies (referred to as the "Legacy Initiatives"). The green hydrogen agreements encompass six projects located in close proximity to the Duqm and Salalah ports, namely BP Alternative Energy Investments Limited (for a project in Duqm and another in Salalah), Green Energy Oman (GEO), Green Hydrogen and Chemicals SPC (owned by ACME), the Hyport Duqm consortium, and the SalalaH2 consortium.
Statement: As part of Oman Green Hydrogen Auction process, Hydrom is announcing that the bid submission deadline for Phase A Round 1 has been extended by 1 month. Bidders are now expected to submit their proposals by 15th of March 2023

Muscat:Hydrogen Oman SPC (Hydrom) has released the Request for Proposals (RFP) to qualified applicants for the first round of its public auction process to award large-scale integrated green hydrogen projects to developers. Oman aims to award the first land blocks in 2023 in order to meet its 2030 production target of at least 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen per annum.
Muscat:The Sultanate of Oman‘s focus on new low-carbon energy industry got a boost on Sunday when the Ministry of Energy and Minerals announced plans to invite estimated $140 billion investments in green hydrogen. Eng Salim Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, unveiled the plans at a press conference on Sunday where the government also announced the establishment of a new hydrogen-centric energy company, HYDROM.
Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik approved the year 2050 as the date for achieving zero carbon neutrality, preparing a national plan to reach that goal, and establishing the Oman Sustainability Centre to supervise and follow up on carbon neutrality plans and programmes.
A new national energy company dedicated to the pursuit of green hydrogen projects in the Sultanate of Oman is on the anvil, the Observer has learnt. The new entity, Hydrogen Development Oman (HDO), is proposed to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Development Oman (EDO), the state-owned holding company set up by Royal Decree in December 2020 to represent the government’s stake in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), as well as champion the country’s energy transition.
